Before we begin, you should know that Zetapets has their very own Starting Zetapets guide by Tiggles the 'Starting Zetapets' helper! It is full of information and is just as useful as our guide here.

*Chapter 1. The beginning

So you couldn't resist the pull of the 'Register' screen :) Now that you've setup your very own account - by filling in the oh-so-easy form - this is your first step into the wonderful and still developing world of Zetapets. As you may have noticed (see top right of screen) your user/pet/ZP details are on every page. ZP stands for 'Zetapoints' which is the currency used in the Zetaworld.

The times/dates shown are Zetapet's very own timezone - so it doesn't matter which country you are in - all rules apply at a specific time! You can also browse through the number of users online - a very handy tool that musn't been underestimated!

Before we move on, note that Moderators are staff of Zetapets, who also actively participate in the game as well, so you will see them around the forums (details later) and around other haunts. Moderators are given a special avatar in forums and their user profile. In my experience these people are both helpful and encouraging, so be nice when you ask questions!

Your next step should be to create your very own pet. All you have to do is look under 'Main' (left navigation bar) and click on 'Pets'. This will bring up a menu asking if you want to create/adopt/abandon/see profiles of pets. Feel free to either click 'adopt' or 'create' at this stage. For the purpose of this userguide, we'll focus on 'create a pet'.

This should bring up a page with all sorts of pets available to you - just click on the one that you like and then customise it: give it a name, choose its gender, its colour, and you can write out its 'pet profile' as well. (Don't worry if you don't know what to type now, you can always change it later) Then click Next to move onto the next step. This involves a questionnaire which helps Zetapets set your pet's attributes.

What are Pet attributes? Below is a sample of what your new pet's attributes might be:

Level: 1
Health: 40/40
Magic: 40/40
Def: Average
Dex: Average
Str: Pitiful
Int: Extremely Below Average

These should be pretty self-explanatory. But just so everything is clear:

Def = Defence
Dex = Dexterity (or speed of movement)
Str = Strength
Int = Intelligence

Your new pet is now born! IT will remain in the 'baby' pet status for 2 weeks exactly before it becomes a fully grown pet! The final step is to activate your pet as your 'primary' or 'active' pet. Although you can have more than one pet, you can only have one active one at any one time. All you have to do is click on the name of your new pet to activate it.
